Fix the Roots Up-front with Prefixes is the working title for my third book. Prefixes are added to the single syllabled words within Where Is That Vowel? The purpose is to elongate familiar words without introducing the concept of syllables and use of the schwa.
It is an opportune time to introduce parts of speech with their word definitions. Instruct students to verbalize and/or write the new word in a sentence.
Samples of the most commonly used prefixes are defined, their grammatic roles listed, as well as the word’s definition. Mix and match exercises are also provided. We want the students to live/experience these words.
